The Democrats and Republicans in Washington are fighting it out about how many billions of dollars it will take to stimulate the economy. Hint: The Democrats will win because they won most of the elections in 2006 and 2008. It’s their baby.
I could write post after post about it, but I am holding off. It is tough. We’re still on the honeymoon, right? What’s a few billion dollars?
So, on to sports! That stimulates me right now.
The Kansas City Chiefs today hired Arizona offensive coordinator, Todd Haley, as their new head coach. He is 41 years old.
This is good news for us Chiefs fans. Now we have a new beginning with Haley and new GM Scott Pioli.
While last season’s record was a dismal 2-14, there are a lot of young players that gained valuable experience. Looking ahead, the Chiefs have about $37 million to play with before going over the salary cap. So, let’s go shopping! The Chiefs will also have the third overall pick in the upcoming draft (behind Detroit and St. Louis) and a couple of veteran players who want trades, plus a couple who should not be back and were getting big salaries.
I’m all for the Chiefs trading RB Larry Johnson, but I against trading TE Tony Gonzalez, who just completed one of his best seasons ever. Tony G still has some miles left in his tank and with the new improved front office; he may just get a chance to win a playoff game.
Have a great weekend!

It's Over
Tonight, the Steelers beat the Cardinals 27-23. That was a great game. Often the Super Bowl is a let down from the playoffs, but the last two Super Bowls were something for the history books. This was the Steelers’ sixth Super Bowl win.
It was nice for me because a friend of mine was back from Afghanistan and we got to relax, catch up with each other’s lives, and watch a great game – football, friends and food – it does not get much better than that.
I don’t think the commercials were as good as in they were in the past; maybe the economy had something to do with it. You can watch them HERE. The halftime show with “The Boss” was impressive. Yep, we turned the TV way up.
Next week is the Pro Bowl. Then we have the scouting combine later this month. Then the draft happens in April. After that we will wait patiently for the training camps to open in July. Of course, there will be some moves in the coaching world along the way and there are always a few trades to perk our interest.
It was a fine season. Now, all the teams are hoping they can be in the big show like the Steelers and the Cardinals were tonight.
